Carrie Gorn was born on April 13, 1975 in Williamsport, PA, to parents, David C. Smith and Gloria McDermott (nee Sullivan). She graduated from Williamsport Area High School in 1993. She continued her education, graduating from Lycoming College with a degree in Communications. Carrie went on to establish a career as a freelance Public Relations Consultant, where she served the Philadelphia area theater community. She has worked with such theaters and organizations as: Quintessence, Curio, EgoPo, Tribe of Fools, Wilma, Philadelphia Theatre Company, People’s Light, and countless others.
One of her favorite hobbies was diamond art. She relished weekend mornings at her dining room table, listening to the news and creating lovely art. She loved beauty in nature, and found peace walking around Longwood Gardens, despite protests from both her allergies and her daughter. She had no patience for injustice, and was intolerant of most foods either creamy or mushy. She claimed to hate mint but could finish a box of Thin Mints in one sitting. She was passionate about theater in all its forms, and appreciated every aspect, from the box office staff to the producers.
Carrie was preceded in death by her father, David and her mother, Gloria.
Carrie is survived by her daughter Rosalind (Rosie), her husband Chad, her stepfather Tim McDermott, and her sisters Stacy Graves (nee McDermott) and Emily McDermott. She was also beloved by many aunts, uncles, cousins and devoted friends.
A celebration of life is scheduled for Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Alleva Funeral Home (1724 E. Lancaster Ave., Paoli PA) from 12:30pm to 3pm. Sharing of memories will begin at 2:00pm.
