My name is Nick, and I've known Juan for about 10 years ....although I never actually met Juan in person, and only knew him by his screen name "El Coyote" (among others).

You see, I "met" Juan on a website "The Burning Platform" (aka, TBP, where he knew me as "Stucky").

I considered Juan to be a great friend,  perhaps even my most favorite commenter there.  I especially LOVED his amazing sense of humor.  He literally made me laugh out loud on very many occasions.

He was also a true friend.  When my wife died this year, on Jan. 6th, and when I was beside myself with grief,  his kind words of support and encouragement helped me greatly.  He was ALWAYS one of my greatest supporters.  It has  always been my hope to meet him one day (really).  I guess I'll just meet him on The Other Side.

I'm just a couple years older than Juan, so his death comes as a total shock to me.  I hope and pray that he did not suffer.  I will miss him so very VERY much!!!

To his family, and especially his wife --- to whom he affectionately referred to as "The Sexy Mulatta" --- please know this; he loved you all very deeply.  That always came through in his writings.

"Hey Juan!!  If you get a chance, say hello to my beloved "Munchkin"! OK?  We're all going to miss your wonderful personality on TBP. Especially me, old friend .... especially me."

Juan was much beloved member of a cyber community at The Burning Platform, a blog owned and operated by Jim Quinn, known to us on the blog as "Admin."  He was El Coyote or EC and he was very much loved and respected for his wit and his fine writing.

I got to know Juan as EC online quite a few years ago. I never got to meet him but sometimes, even in cyberspace, a person's true spirit will shine through. Juan was a gentleman in the truest sense of the word with a great sense of humour and an intellectual depth that is rare these days. I'm glad I had the chance to get to know that side of him even if I didn't get to know him face to face. I'm richer for it and I know I speak for many others from our little corner of the internet when I say that he will be deeply missed.

 I knew Juan Jose Santos only on the internet. He once came to my aid with wise advice and we exchanged a few messages. His compassion, wisdom, humor and occasional sharpness were a welcome gift to those who knew him however briefly. He was a great soul.

While I never knew Juan in a face to face manner I did converse with him and read his thoughts on the TBP site,a funny and wise(sometimes wise ass!)writer and commentator and his presence will be missed,he was a member of our dysfunctional family.

My thoughts are with his family/friends in these challenging times. 

I also, as Marc Moran stated, knew Juan as EC, on the same site. He was a gifted wonderful person whom I will miss. We had many lively conversations and shared a very enjoyable competition trying to reach the comment century marks. His quick wit, insight and quirky sense of humor inspired, encouraged and, at times even infuriated, those of us who knew him, even if from the distant reaches of the internet.
My condolences and prayers for you in this time of sorrow. Yet this life is but a vapor and, on that fine day, we will finally meet face to face.

while I never had the pleasure of meeting Juan in person, I came to know him through the Internet as an astute and insightful man with a deep knowledge of literature, an unmatched sense of humor, and a compassion for his fellow man that inspired me every time we had an exchange. I only knew him only as EC and he knew me as Hardscrabble Farmer yet though separated by thousands of miles, we were kindred spirits dwelling on the same hallowed ground.

He encouraged me, provided endless sources of new information, and wrote some of the wittiest and profoundly trenchant comments about a wide variety of topics effortlessly. He was a National Treasure that a few of us were lucky enough to have discovered.

To his family and friends I offer not only my sincere condolences but my heartfelt gratitude to have been considered as a friend by such a person- perhaps the most interesting man in the world.

God Bless his soul and keep him until we meet again.


 I still can't believe he is gone but I  know he is with God and looking  down on us.. my best memories of the hermano santos was  was when   we were all younger he used to drive us all over the place he never said no to us  and one thing I can't forget is the way he used to look at his daughter Annissa  when we used to dance at church he used to look at her  and big smile like saying my lil Angel he was the most nicest human  what ever he had he would share   and he was the most kindest person he was the only one that could handle my little cousin chuchi and chuchi respected him so much thank you for that .and I can't forget that when my mother and father used to have service at our house  we used to make tortas  he used to bring the ham  he loved tortas..... Hermano Santos you might be gone  but we will never forget you   rest in peace

Juan Santos, you will forever be greatly missed by many many people. You are an amazing father, Grandfather, Husband and Son. You have taught me so many valuable life lessons that I carry with me to this day, and the moments Blake, Harmony and Carter got spend with you over time will be cherished deeply. We love you Grandpa Juan we will carry you in our hearts, and may you RIP ❤️
