Dennis Henry Rodriguez

Dennis Henry Rodriguez was born on August 9, 1950, in Los Angeles, California, to Henry and Sarah Rodriguez. Dennis was raised in the San Fernando Valley, along with his sisters Irene, Annie, Cathy, and Joyce.

In October of 1970, Dennis enlisted in the United States Army Reserve. Dennis completed basic training at Fort Dix, New Jersey. Upon returning home from boot camp, Dennis finished the remainder of his reserve duties as a heavy vehicle mechanic (MOS# 63A10).

Mechanically inclined and Army trained, Dennis was swiftly hired by the County of Los Angeles as a vehicle mechanic. Like a true soldier, Dennis rose each day before the sun and lifted heavy parts, busted his knuckles and happily took on repairs that often left him covered in gasoline and grease. On August 30, 1971, Dennis married Laura Hutcheson, who would later bless him with two beautiful daughters, Natalie and Sarah. Dennis would spend the weekends cruising on his motorcycle and surfing at local beaches with Laura, Natalie and Sarah.

In 2014, Dennis retired after thirty years of service with Los Angeles County. During the years following his retirement, Dennis enjoyed quiet afternoon cups of coffee, learning to play guitar, attending church and working on his beloved Harley Davidson. Dennis had an unwavering love for his country and outspoken gratitude and appreciation for the brave men and women who serve in our armed forces.

On December 17, 2023, Dennis passed peacefully from this life, into the loving arms of our Lord. Dennis is survived by his wife of fifty two years, Laura (Hutcheson) Rodriguez, sisters Annie (Tarpley) , Cathy (Boice), Irene (Sharp), daughters Natalie (Taylor) and Sarah (Watterson) and their husbands Mike and Ryan and lastly, his grandchildren Charlotte, Luke and Isla. Dennis’ mother, father and sister Joyce preceded him in death.

While Dennis’ family and friends will miss him dearly, we know that we will see him again. Until then, Dennis will surely be on his Harley cruising the never ending coastal highways of Heaven.
