his wife Katie, his canine pals Tessie and Charlie and other family members. Known to friends as “Chappee” Bob was born July 6, 1932 in Perth Amboy, Connecticut. He graduated from Fairfield Prep School in Fairfield, Connecticut then joined the USMC in 1951. Bob served in the Korean War until his honorable discharge in 1954. He was awarded The Purple Heart as well as other medals for conduct.
Bob received a degree in Mechanical Engineering degree from Tri-State College in Angola, Indiana then worked as an engineer for Western Electric in Pennsylvania. He later owned and operated Chappee’s Deli, Chapman’s Service Center and Chappee’s Restaurant in Reading, Pennsylvania before retiring to Clearwater, Florida. He worked for L & N Lable Company, a family business, after settling in Clearwater.
Bob was an avid golfer and member of Clearwater Country Club for many years. He enjoyed fishing, boating, travelling, and dancing. Always a gentleman Bob will be remembered for his charismatic personality, his powerful smile and handsome good looks! He had a melodic voice and enjoyed all genre of music. Patsy Cline was his favorite singer and he sang many of her songs with perfect pitch. Bob will be missed by his family and friends.
Bob is survived by his wife of 14 years Katie, 7 children: Steve Chapman, Theresa Wilson, Mary Cardinal, Catherine Gaenzle, Anne Sphuler, Margaret Roland, Robert J. Chapman and stepsons John Woody and Paul Woody. He is also survived by his sister Blanche Sabadosh , nephews Steve Sabadosh and Scott Sabadosh, nieces Sharon Gray and Sandra Cheek, brothers –in –law Bryson Trosper and Jim Heindl, 24 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Bob is predeceased by his wife of 38 years Marian Chapman and his parents Robert and Mary Chapman. Memorial services will be held September 26, 2020 at Our Lady of Lourdes in Dunedin, Florida. Donations in his honor can be directed to Suncoast Hospice in or The Alzheimers Association..
