Jimmy J Drizis, 92, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones, on Wednesday, February 17, 2021. Jimmy was born December 6, 1928 in Achladokampos, Greece. He immigrated from Greece to provide a better life for his family. During his life he worked his way up from dishwasher to restaurant owner. He owned and operated 14 restaurants in the Chicago area and Florida. When asked what was the secret of his success he responded. “All you need to do is to work every day a ½ a day.” When hearing this, most people looked in disbelief and didn’t understand how working 4 hours a day would amount to anything. He then would respond with a smile “…and it doesn’t matter what 12 hours of the day it is!” People loved his quick wit along with his joyful and party attitude. He always enjoyed eating, drinking and dancing with family and friends. He never met a person he didn’t like. He could talk to anyone and did talk to everyone, sharing his stories, …. sometimes the same one over and over. LOL. His definition of a friend is everyone he knew and those he hasn’t met yet.
Jimmy enjoyed playing cards at the coffee shop, and the going to the horse track. Jimmy was an active member with the Lakonian Club and Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his Wife Demetra Drizis; daughter Maria Antonopulous; brother Gus Trizis; and partner Carol Kufeldt.
Jimmy is survived by daughters Sonia Anderson (Gary); Terry Roberts (Mark); son John Drizis (Mary Beth); step sons Tim Kufeldt; Michael Kufeldt (Candy); and Steve Kufeldt; and BROTHER Tassi Drizis; GRANDCHILDREN, Gary, Corrie, Evan, James, Hali, Demetra, Jennifer, Brandon, Zach, Beth, Sam, and Daniel; GREAT GRANDCHILDREN, Kahlie, Kara, Gunner and Alex; and many extended family and friends.
THE PAIN OF HIS LOSS IS GREAT BUT GOD IS GREATER
