Charles Freeman Paxton, 96, born at North Charleroi, PA to Freeman G. and Pearl (Weaver) Paxton on February 15,1924. He is survived by Shirley, his wife and best friend of 71 years; sons, Mark (Denise) and Kent (Janet); 7 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1942 and served in WWII and Korea in all operational theaters and awarded the Combat Action and Naval Unit Commendation citations among other citations and numerous campaign medals.
Was the Managing Director of Weltronic Ltd., Slough Bucks, England. Presdident and G.M. of Worldtronic, international division of Weltronic Co., Clare, Michigan. Co-owner President and G.M. Weltronic U.S.A. prior to the sale to Ransberg Co. Indianopolis, Indiana.
Fellow, British Institute of Welding, Great Britain. Life member the American Welding Society. Had parents on the application of computers for automation, welding and energy management.
Charles was a Mason Hershel Lodge 1894 Slough Bucks, England. Life memberships Mason Lodge S.O.3., The Eastern Star, Chapter 129 and Knights Templar (Old Guard) Detroit #1 All, save one, in Michigan.
After retirement was involved in veteran affairs. Served in Honor Guards as member and Commander American Legion Post 343 and V.F.W. Posts 7987 and 7845. Past Commander V.F.W 7987. Served multiple times as Commander at Posts A.L. 343 and V.F.W. 7845. When serving at 7845 achieved All State Commander twice and All American Commander 2005.
