Lorraine (Lorrie) Godlin died on September 24, 2017 after a brief illness. She was surrounded by her husband Harold Godlin, her children, Kenneth P. Steinberg and wife Laura; Deborah K. Blake and husband Jon; and Susan M. Bachar. Also with her were her 5 granddaughters: Danielle, Haley, Sarah, Emily and Annie.
Lorrie was born to Aaron and Sarah Becker in Brooklyn, NY where she lived until marrying David Steinberg. Lorrie and David lived in Stamford, Connecticut for 35 years, where they raised their 3 children. She later retired to Palm Beach Gardens and married Harold Godlin.
Lorrie was educated in the NY school system where she received both a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degree in British Literature from Brooklyn College.
Lorrie was a popular and respected high school English teacher for 20 years at Westhill High School in Stamford, CT. She was an avid reader and loved all sorts of literature, movies and theater. In addition to the arts, Lorrie also loved being active and most days could be found outside playing tennis, swimming, riding her bike and walking the neighborhood.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday September 26 at 2:30 PM at the Star of David Funeral Home, 9321 Memorial Park Road, West Palm Beach. During the week that follows, friends and mourners are welcome to drop by the home at 232 Eagleton Lakes Blvd, Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. A memorial service and celebration of Lorrie’s life will be held later in October for family and friends.
