Jack Chernack born February 26, 1921, in Brooklyn, NY to Sarah and Harry Chernick, passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family and caregivers on Sunday, February 23, 2020, just 3 days short of his 99th birthday. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife Heleta, his brother Arnold and his precious son Barry. He is survived by his daughter Lynda (Tom), daughter-in-law Ellen, grandchildren, Cliff (Stephanie), Brian (Christy), Josh (Amy), Andrew (Shari), Karen (Jason), and step-granddaughter Michelle (Jimmy). He was GG Jack to 12 amazing great-grandchildren who will carry his legacy well into the future. Everyone who knew Jack knew him as a keen intellect with a curious scientific mind, a gentle but firm nature and as the backbone of the family always ready with his support and wisdom. He had wise advice and guidance for his kids, grandkids, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Professionally, he graduated from Brooklyn College with a degree in Chemistry and had a long career as a chemist and project director for the U.S. Government. He took advantage of an early retirements so that he and his wife could follow a long held dream to move to Florida where their siblings and friends reunited to play in the sun. They had a wonderful retirement life, producing theater, traveling the world, and learning new skills. Jack found he had a knack for creating art and practical items out of lucite so every family member has a lucite clock that may now be a bit dated but nevertheless treasured.
Jack will be remembered with love and admiration....he was above all "one-of-a kind".
