Irwin was born in Akron, Ohio on July 12, 1931, Irwin attended Buchtel High School in Akron, Ohio, and graduated from Fairfax High School in Los Angeles, California . After high school, he attended the University of Miami and The Ohio State University.
Irwin married Shirley Becker Hahn on June 18, 1961, in Minneapolis, MN, and had three children and four grandchildren.

Whether it was helping with his family’s business, travelling the US in sales, rising to success in the corporate world, Irwin was resolute in his work. He was Executive Vice President for the home building products manufacturer Alside, Inc. of Akron. He also served as president of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry, in Arlington, VA.
Irwin was the happiest when he was with his family. He had a joke for every occasion and a warm smile and greeting for everyone he met. He took strong interest in the lives of both friends and strangers and was a confidant and mentor to many.
He loved cars, music, golf, finance, travel, public speaking, and his daily reading of the Palm Beach Post. Most of all, he adored his wife and cherished a marriage that lasted over 60 years.
Irwin is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Shirley Hahn; daughters, Raleigh Hahn and Michelle (Michael) Rabinovich; son, Steven (Danielle) Hahn; brother, Jack Hahn; grandchildren, Bari, Andrew (Rachel) and Alex Rabinovich, and Cara Hahn.
Irwin is predeceased by his brother, Harvey Hahn.
Funeral Services and Burial will be held, 3:00 pm, Thursday, January 6, 2022 at I.J. Morris at the Star of David Cemetery of the Palm Beaches, 9321 Memorial Park Road, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, 33412 In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Irwin E.
