My dad Alan Chesler was the best dad a girl could ever wish for, I’m so lucky and honored to have had him as mine. We most certainly had a special bond and enjoyed so many years together. We made endless memories together which ill always cherish and hold so close to my heart. He was the most loving giving person, not only to family and friends but anyone in need. He was a genius in business and always had amazing ideas that were way ahead of his time. My dad loved his family and friends with such enthusiasm. He was always the best grandpa to my boys too, he would join in the fun with us all no matter what we did. He had the most positive attitude of anyone I knew, he always saw a solution to a problem. Never let a speed bump slow him down. He had determination and follow through and distilled that in me so well. I cannot explain in words how much I appreciate all he’s taught me by teaching and by example. I hope I can be as good of an example to my children as he always was to me. I looked up to him my whole life and will forever hold him in my heart as the best man I ever knew. He was always willing to take the time to teach me something and he was such a great teacher too. His passions were important to him but no matter what his family always came first. He was the most special person I’ve ever known and my absolute best friend in the entire world. I will forever miss him and I can’t imagine a day that my heart will ever heal from losing my daddy. It’s only been just over a week since he passed and it already feels like an eternity of sadness. I love him forever, always have, always will…

Alan Chesler, my husband of 45 years left me physically but never emotionally.  A man whose generosity preceeded his acts of kindness in every respect. 

Born in Toronto, Ontario moving to New York City, he began as a stock trader always looking for that next adventure, hence building Great Harbour Cay, a Bahamian resort then aquiring a very small company from Jartran-Bob's Barricades, Inc. began to flourish with 18 hour work days, seven days per week.  Grueling as it may have been, the garden did bloom as he was the president to the end, 49 years later.  

Alan had a deep passion for showjumping horses competing himsef into his 50's, the golf thrill of a hole in one, an avid sharp poker player and master of card tricks that was mesmerizing.  Computers are quicker, however he was an analytical mathematical genius who carried me through physics. 

My heart and hearts of children Robin, Drew, Frankie and Mikala do as well.  We all ache for your presence which mounts more with each passing day.  Lost we have become without your love, wisdom, humor, compassion and character.   

Alan always beamed with family pride.  Never a braggart or superficial in any respect, the world is grayer without the light of Alan.  Your scroll of lifelong friends miss you deeply. I personally thank you for an incredible life and lighting my torch.    

Alan filled your heart with love and he did mine, till we two are one again.  Sherry

We shared a once in a lifetime friendship that will be cherished forever in our hearts. Because you are in heaven now, we will always have a piece of heaven in our home.

It is with great sadness that I extend my very sincere condolences to the entire Chesler family.

Alan was a sweetheart of a man with a tremendous love, passion and devotion for his family, friends and of course animals. 

I had known Alan from a very young age where Ronnie Schafer, Ryan Schafer, Randolph Schafer and I would visit SherAl farm in Davie, quite regularly to meet Alan in the early mornings coming up from Miami to swim laps together in the pool, play ping pong together and watch as he and Sherry would  with an abundance of love and compassion spend hours together to take care of on a daily basis hundreds of animals including so many parrots, dogs, cats and of course the thoroughbred Equestrian horses that they each groomed together and devoted their lives to. The beautiful stories of Frankie’s success as a world class equestrian jumper and the success of Alan’s oldest daughter Robin and son Andrew in business and of course Alan and Sherry’s youngest daughter Mikala and their many beautiful grandchildren were endless. We enjoyed hundreds of lunches together with Alan over the many years at Chinese restaurants and sometimes Jewish Deli’s throughout south Florida .  Alan adored his family beyond measure and he lived a brilliant, vibrant yet simple humble life filled with love and a love for life and in helping others. 

As a prominent businessman and his dedication to his company Bob’s Barricades,
Alan would never turn down an opportunity to help our military and veterans and would never turn down an opportunity to sponsor events for our Air Force Association for many years .

Alan you will be greatly missed. On behalf of my family and I, once again I extend our sincere condolences to the Chesler family and may God comfort each of you in warmth and give you great strength as his spirit and light of love from above will always shine brightly upon each of you. May God bless always.

Alan was always so nice to me when I did promotional work for Frankie and for Jump Canada. Always supportive and positive!  The horse world will miss him!

Knowing Alan since his Great Neck, NY days, I know he will be missed .  We had many past memories together, but not much contact the past several years…..I will always remember him……RIP, Alan, you will be greatly missed

I will always cherish my visits with cousin Alan be it at the farm in Orangeville or meeting the family up in palgrave to watch Frankie or Mikala compete! Alan was a gentle soul devoted to his family and always wore a big smile! He was respected and loved by his family and associates and he had a positive impact on everyone. He will be missed by all of us! I hope we all find comfort in the fond memories .

Alan Chesler was my business partner & best friend for 49 yrs.
He watched my children grow up & I watched his  Then came the joy of grandchildren.  that we both loved . Alan,, never interfered with me running our company & even though he moved  back to Canada 
approximately 30 years ago he always did  excellent job doing our annual budget . Alan was Magic was  numbers as was his sister Kathy’s son Adam  Arviv that Alan  took delight in calling “The Wizard “ 
Alan’s glory in life was teaching his daughter Frankie to become one of the top  horse jumping riders in FLA
The Father/ Daughter & the Daughter/ Father love they had for each other was remarkable! Alan took care of Frankie as she grew up & Frankie was there for  Alan when he got sick & needed her help & by his side to the very end of his life !
I will never forget Alan or the good times we had . Rest in peace Alan, you were loved by so many . With Love & respect. Happy Edward Alter

We are so saddened by the loss of this great man, Uncle Alan.  He personally and positively affected every person he touched.  He was patient and kind and one of the very best teachers.  He led by example and lived life his way. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
