Tin-Yung Sum, age 72, of Palm Bay, Florida passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at Palm Bay Community Hospital. She was born March 13, 1951 in Shanghai, China the daughter of Wai Sing and Yan Sheung (Yan) Ying.
Tin Yung immigrated from China to America in 1979. After meeting her husband on a fateful blind date, she married Chun-Teen Sum and was married for 42 years. Even though she was denied a formal education, she was able to achieve the title of Supervisor Sample Maker in New York, Park Ave Fashion District.
As well as being an extremely talented seamstress, Tin Yung was an avid chef who made delicious dishes for church potlucks and family dinners. She also took great pleasure in gardening, especially growing vegetables that she would use in her delectable meals. She was a caring mother and grandmother who showed her love through amazing home cooked meals.
Tin Yung was predeceased by her father, Wai Sing. Surviving in addition to her husband, Chun-Teen Sum, Palm Bay, FL are her daughter, Suzanne Zhu and her husband, Yan, Colorado Springs, CO; two grandsons Adam and Andrew Zhu; mother, Yan Sheung, Queens, NY; brothers Tin Ping Ying, Paramus, NJ, Tian Xing Xing, Queens, NY, Tian Lung Xing, Queens, NY; sisters Tin Yau Ying, Boston, MA, Anna Tin Yee Ying, Hong Kong, China; five nieces and a nephew.
A visitation for Tin-Yung will be held Monday, November 27, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Fountainhead Funeral Home, 7359 Babcock Street SE, Palm Bay, FL 32909. Following the visitation will be a committal service from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM at Fountainhead Memorial Park, 7303 Babcock Street SE, Palm Bay, FL 32909.
