On September 7, 2023, Heaven gained another angel when Terry Duane “Ted” Fleming passed away unexpectedly at the age of 83 in Palm Bay, Florida. Ted was born May 5, 1940 in Gadsden, Alabama. He came from a large family of nine siblings.
Ted was one of the strongest men ever known, especially by his wife and two sons. He was intelligent, a jack of trades and master of all. He was a man who loved his family. Ted was a military man who tried to enlist when he was fifteen and sixteen and finally the ARMY let him in at the age of seventeen where he served as a mechanic.
After his time in the military, Ted made his way into being a Country music DJ for WYRL 102.3 FM, a local radio station in Melbourne, FL. Ted was the smooth voice that everyone heard while enjoying the records he spun and while doing that he got to meet numerous music stars. He would set up fishing trips (one of his loves) with Merle Haggard, bought George Jones car, and he even rubbed elbows with Johnny Cash. Ted was a skilled guitar player and songwriter. He would get together with his brothers and they would play together at family gatherings.
He leaves behind his loving and devoted wife, Patricia (Patsy), whom he married on August, 18, 1963. They courted for a short while and finally got her to say yes. Their sixty-year marriage was a long life of love and pranks.
He also leaves behind his sister Judy Jordan. His children, son Nathan and wife Jamie, son Ethan and wife Christy, his two grandchildren, Fletcher (9) and Thea (5). He is preceded in death by his father, Fletcher and mother, Maybell. His brothers: James Fletcher, Robert Gordon, John Wayne, Billy Clyde, Howard Dennis and sisters: Dorothy Jean Thornton, Minnie Lee Bates (Sally).
