Born on April 19, 1940, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Rusty led a vibrant life filled with love and laughter. After a wonderful childhood in Tennessee, she moved to Melbourne in the early '60s and established a lasting legacy in the community. An entrepreneur, Rusty owned and operated salons in Melbourne and later, florist shops in Vero, as well as greenhouse businesses in Arkansas and Fellsmere. She spent 33 adventurous years with her husband, Tracy, traveling, gambling, and enjoying life. Rusty enjoyed gardening, bowling, poker, and hosting cocktail hour on her dock. She never knew a stranger. She was well known for her uninhibited personality and her unwavering dedication to her loved ones.
Rusty is survived by her daughter Kyla, son-in-law Danne, grandchildren Mandi, Mikylee, Kinder, and siblings Bobby, Fran, and Linda . She was preceded in death by her parents, Ollie and Robert Pelfrey, her husband Tracy Howard, and her sister Judy Nichols.
A visitation will be held at Fountainhead Funeral Home, 7359 Babcock St. SE Palm Bay, FL 32909, on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 9:00 am, followed by a service at 10:00 am, and a celebration of life at her home afterwards.
Rusty's family requests that guests write and bring or mail a memory or story you have of her to honor her life.
Her preferred florist is Always in Bloom in Vero (772) 770-9204, ask for Greg. She worked with Greg for several years when she had her flower shops.
Rusty will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
