Nilsa Ramirez was born on December 18, 1932 in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico to father, Emetero Ramirez and mother, Maximiliana Maldonado. She is preceded in death by her parents, and siblings – Patria, William, Idiz, Herson, and Zaida.
She married at the age of 19 and was a dedicated Army wife who also faithfully saw to the raising of her three children throughout various duty locations including Arkansas, Italy, Panama, Virginia, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, and Kentucky. After her children got married and moved out, she gained employment with JCPenney and later with Rockwell-Collins, which she retired from.
After her retirement from Rockwell, she became very involved in volunteer work with the “ Sharing Center of Palm Bay”, “Captain’s House” in Palm Bay and Nilsa also became a member of “Damas Unidas de Palm Bay,” a Hispanic group of “Ladies from Palm Bay” that even named her “Lady of the Year” for her many years of volunteerism, and for always helping others by taking them to medical appointments and visiting the sick in hospitals and in their homes.
Nilsa will be fondly remembered as giving, caring, humble, and a great cook of many Puerto Rican dishes. Nilsa took great joy in her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She poured her heart into her family and friends, and we were blessed to have her with us for almost 91 years.
She is survived by her son, William (wife, Deborah), daughter, Nilsa (husband, Chuck), and son Alfred (wife, Darlene); grandchildren, Nicole, Michael (wife, Jennifer), Alison (husband, Marc), Melanie (husband, Nelson), Ryan (wife, Christi), Anthony, and Jeremy; also, 13 great-grandchildren (Peyton, Cayden, Bailey, Brody, Ansley, Easton, Talia, Owen, Weston, Max, Miller, Beckett, and Jacob).
A committal service for Nilsa will be held Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 3:00 PM at Fountainhead Memorial Park, 7303 Babcock Street SE, Palm Bay, Florida 32909.
