He was born July 17, 1933 in Frostproof, Florida to Leo and Lora Mae Meyer. He moved to Melbourne in 1951 with his father to help build the barracks at Patrick Air Force Base. He did that until he was drafted into the Air Force in February of 1953 as an Aircraft Mechanic during the Korean War. He worked on C47s and C54s until he was honorably discharged in Nov of 1956.
He met his future wife Anita Pannell at Lake Murray while being discharged at Ardmore Air Force Base. They were married on Oct 3, 1957 and lived in Oklahoma City until January of 1973 when they moved to West Melbourne, Florida.
Morris spent many years as a Cub Master, Boy Scout chaperone and a baseball coach when his kids were younger.
In Florida, he worked as a carpenter until moving to Cincinnati with Anita to become a Field Engineer for Cellular One in 1988. He retired from Cellular One in 1996 and returned to their home in West Melbourne. Shortly after they moved back he started working as a security guard for GE before retiring again in 2010.
Morris was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his sons, Lee (Becky), Larry (Janet) and Steve (Rosann) and daughter Carol Meyer-Park (Bryon); grandchildren Jessica, Matthew, Stephanie, Brett, Larry Jr., Jordan, Riann, Jolene, Angela and Kylee; and great-grandchildren Tony, Brayden, Emmalyn, Elizabeth, Alex, Leo and Scott.
The viewing/remembrance will be held at Fountainhead Funeral Home on Feb 5, from 1pm-3om, with his burial for immediate family afterward.
