An accident on the early morning of September 20th, 2018 saw the end of a multi-faceted personality, a warm and attentive friend, and a beloved sister and daughter. Melody Rae Hardy’s ride began June 17, 1993 at 7:31pm. Born to Jeff and Debby Hardy, the baby sister of 5-year-old Brittney, Melody had bright blue eyes that never lost their luster. Named for the song In My Heart There Rings A Melody, her voice rang out often for her mother, from whom she was inseparable from as a baby. Melody had many interests growing up, ranging from music, which she always preferred over television, to animals, especially Kit Kat who awaited her in the great beyond. A talented musician, Melody played trombone and became captain of the marching band during her senior year. She also loved to travel, and her wanderlust took her to Colorado to Ginnie Springs, all the way to Canada, to Boston, to Key West, and even to the top of the Eiffel Tower. Possessing a wild and adventurous spirit, Melody was an avid motorcyclist for years and loved riding jet skis, but she also possessed a contemplative and calm side and loved spending time at the beach or quietly watching the rain fall. Melody’s bright spirit always put those around her at ease, even as her pointed humor fearlessly revealed the absurd. A soul who burned brighter than any flame, Melody Rae will be sorely missed, and never, ever forgotten. She is survived by her parents, Jeffrey and Deborah Hardy, her sister Brittney Hardy, and her Jack Russel Terrier, Spike.
