Margaret Goelz Shaw, 93, widow of James Lincoln Shaw, died Sunday, March 10, 2013 in Melbourne, Florida. Born in New York City, New York, on January 20, 1920, Mrs. Shaw resided in New York City and Bergenfield, New Jersey for 63 years, where she worked for 18 years at Scholastic Publishing Company. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Teaneck, NJ.
In 1983, she relocated to Florida, lived in the Lakes of Melbourne and became involved with many organizations. She was active in the South Brevard County’s Senior Citizen Group and served on the board of directors for the Palm Bay American Association of Retired Persons. Mrs. Shaw also was affiliated with the Elks, the Lions Club and served as a volunteer at Holmes Regional Hospital.
Margaret is predeceased by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Christian (Naima) Goelz, and a sister, Mrs. Sidney (Elizabeth) Fletcher.
She is survived by her son, James Chris Shaw of Melbourne, Florida and her daughter-in-law, Lillian Felton Shaw. She is also survived by three granddaughters, Jennifer Shaw Linden, Tamara Shaw Davidson, and Amanda Shaw Lewis and three grandsons-in-law, Jeffrey John Linden, Brian Wayne Davidson and Trevor Michael Lewis. She was blessed to have seen the arrival of seven great-grandchildren, James Shaw Linden, William Jeffrey Linden, Kaitlin Chanel Davidson, Hunter James Davidson, Emma Faye Davidson, Lillian Grace Lewis and Nicole Allyson Lewis.
She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and great-grand nieces and great-grand nephews.
Fountainhead Funeral Home of Palm Bay, Florida is in charge of arrangements. There are no calling hours. A private memorial service is scheduled.
