Kathleen, also known as Kay to family and friends, was born February 24, 1938 in Queens, New York. She was the youngest daughter of Thomas and Clara Curran. Kay was predeceased by her husband Andrew J. Vitzthum and her siblings Patricia, Janet and Bernard. Kay and Andy were married August 24, 1959 and together had five children Caroline, Robert, Edward, Gerard, and Andrew.
In her early years, Kay was a bank teller. After marrying Andy, the job that meant the most to Kay was being a Mom. She enjoyed soccer games, camping and watching sports with her boys.Andy and Kathleen enjoyed retirement in Florida and cruising the open sea with friends.
Kay is survived by her sons Robert G. Vitzthum and his wife Katherine, Edward G. Vitzthum and his wife Donna, Andrew T. Vitzthum and his wife Linda. Kay will be dearly missed by her grandchildren, Amanda, Jessica, Alex, Patrick, Ryan, Serena, Logan and Delaney, great-grandchildren Lucas and Hazel.
Services will be held as follow: Internment: Friday, February 2nd, 2024 at 11:00 am at Pinelawn National Cemetery. Memorial Mass: Saturday, February 3rd, 2024 at 10:30 am at Our Lady of Lourdes in West Islip.
In lieu of flowers, we ask you to donate to the William Childs Hospice House. The doctors, nurses and staff gave our mother exceptional care. Our family was well taken care of in our time of need and deep sadness.
