On Saturday January 11, 2020, June Mercedes Legister de Malcolm, loving wife and mother of three children passed away at the youthful age of 89.
June was born of September 21, 1930 in Colon, Republic of Panama to Samuel and May Ella Legister.
She studied and received her formal education in both Jamaica West Indies at Immaculate Conception and Abel Bravo in Colon, Panama.
June also received a certification as a medical records coder which became her career prior to retiring from Brookdale Hospital in Brooklyn NY.
She married Ronald Augustus Malcolm on July 4, 1953. Together they raised four children, Mercedes (Mitzy), Barbara (Bobby), Livia and Miguel.
June had a passion for solving jigsaw puzzles. Avid reader who enjoyed sewing, and embroidering (hand stitched a Talco y Sombra Pollera). She was also a voracious music lover of Boleros (Spanish love songs) and a collector of Tea Pots and Angel Figurines.
She was known for her infectious smile and a kind and compassionate spirit.
June was preceded in death by two sons, three brothers and four sisters.
She is survived by her husband and three daughters, four grandchildren, six greatgrandchildren, and one sister.
Viewing will be at Fountainhead Memorial Park, on Wednesday January 22, 2020 from 6:00 – 8:00pm.
