Born in Anse-à-Foleur, Haiti on August 24, 1939, he was preceded in death by his parents Marc Toussaint and Hermance Clerveaux Toussaint. He was a lifetime educator, a teacher then later a school inspector in various organizations in Haiti such as World Vision, FONHEP (Haitian Foundation for Private Education) and Action Missionary Global (AMG).
He immigrated to the United States in 1994, joining his wife and their three younger children in Silver Spring, MD. He worked at Lado International College as a Clerk Specialist. He tutored elementary and middle school students in French and Math. He was an active member of Eglise Baptiste du Calvaire, where he served as a Sunday school teacher and as an advisor to married couples. Around 2006, he became a member of Bethel World Outreach Church, where he often gave marital advice to young couples. After moving to Florida, he attended Port St-Lucie Gospel Assembly, pastored by his son-in-law, Theodate, where he was loved by many of the church members. He enjoyed praying, studying the bible, evangelizing and praying with others. He also took pleasure in writing plays and poetry, playing dominoes and cards (bezigue), telling jokes and stories, and spending quality time with his family and friends. Others gravitated to him for his wisdom, his faith in God, his humility, and his honesty; he was like a human magnet. His door was always opened to receive anyone in need.
God had a different plan; on August 11, 2021, Joël Luc Toussaint transitioned to be with the Lord, our savior.

Desrivières and her husband Pastor Theodate Desrivières, Hermione Toussaint, Kenelle Toussaint Présumé, Hernandez V. Toussaint and his wife Lynda Toussaint, Dr. Katia T. He was a caring, loving, and generous person. He loved and cherished his wife. He was a proud father of seven biological children, but a father to many. He taught his children and others the importance of education and to be disciplined.
We, the family, thank God for blessing us with such an amazing patriarch who has helped and touched many lives. Papa asked us to remember this last message: "While I am alive, look after me." "Lem' Vivan, Voye Jew' Sou Mwen."
To honor Papa's wishes: please do not send flowers and there will not be a repast (reception).
We will continue to cherish his memories.
