Born in Camaguey, Cuba, she was the second of five children born to Benjamin and Catherine Gallimore.
In her younger years, the family moved to Kingston, Jamaica, and she immigrated to the United States in the late 1940s. In 1951, she married Arthur V. Jackson, they lived in Manhattan, before moving to Brooklyn, N.Y. in 1965.
She was a lifelong member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, and attended the Rollington Town Church in Jamaica, The City Tabernacle Church, once she moved to Florida. She loved to sing in the choir and sang in the alto section. Every year she enjoyed taking part in many holiday concerts given at various churches.
Irene was a great cook, and many family and friends enjoyed her delicious meals. She also enjoyed gardening and, in her later years, doing word puzzles.
Irene is survived by her son Arthur, and his wife Eunice, grandsons Gerald and Jerome, along with many nieces and nephews.
Irene is predeceased by her husband Arthur V. Jackson, brother William Gallimore, sister Mavis Miller, sister Ana Trotman, and sister Beryl Lindo.
The funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 5th at Fountainhead Funeral Home 7359 Babcock Street SE Palm Bay, FL 32909. The viewing will be at 9:30 AM and the service will be at 10:00 AM. Interment will be at The Fountainhead Cemetery, directly afterward.
