Celebrating the life & times of Inez Viola Smith (02-16-1919 – 02-03-2015). Inez (AKA “Niny” to her close friends, “Gram” to her grandchildren and “Nana” to her great grandkids) departed this life for her eternal rest on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at VITAS Courtney Springs Village Hospice in Merritt Island. Inez was born in Derry, New Hampshire to Alexander and Hazel McMaster. After finishing high school, Inez began her career, eventually becoming Assistant to the Superintendent of Schools in Salem, NH as well as serving as the Treasurer for the school board. After retirement, she and her husband moved to Holiday Park in Palm Bay, FL from Salem, NH in 1984. Inez belonged to St David’s Episcopal Church in Salem, NH. She enjoyed arts & crafts, knitting & crocheting, playing cards and bingo with her friends in Holiday Park. For many years, she volunteered her time & knitting talents by crafting colorful blankets for the kids at Camp Boggy Creek and the patients at VITAS Hospice in Merritt Island.
She leaves behind to keep her love & memory alive, her son Dale R. Smith of Methuen, MA; six grandchildren Marta O’Keefe & Chris Germond of Sarasota, FL; Brenda Smith of Seabrook, NH; Robert Smith of Salem, NH; Sharon Smith Yates of Boston, MA; and Jennifer Reynolds of Boston, MA and five great-grandchildren, Tyler, Caitlin, Marshall, Skylar, and Courtney. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert W. Smith, her daughter Sandra J. Germond and her sister Barbara Plant. She will be laid to rest at Fountainhead Memorial Park in Palm Bay, FL; at her request, there will be no services.
