Helen Murphy Whitehead, age 86, passed away on January 4, 2017. She was born on September 4, 1930 in New York City to Martin James and Lillian Marie (Smith) Murphy. Helen was a homemaker who enjoyed crafts and sewing, and was well known for her cooking. She was preceded in death by Edgar Douglas Whitehead, her beloved husband of 49 years. Helen is survived by her son, Edgar Douglas Whitehead Jr., and daughter, Carol-Ann Whitehead. Grandchildren Phillip Whitehead, Carol Ann Ball, and Rachel Whitehead; great grandchildren Adam, Emily, Dallas, Ryleigh, and Audrey. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 22, 2017 at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Fountainhead Funeral Home.
