Helen R. Kasperek, 97, of Melbourne Beach died Sunday (1/26) in a Melbourne nursing home. A native of Carrollton, Illinois she came to the Melbourne Beach area in 2004 from Affton, Mo. Helen was a Catholic and also was a member of the Bridge Club. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and painting. She also was a musician, accomplished with the violin, mandolin, banjo and piano. Helen and Leo W., her husband of 72 years, enjoyed dancing and had participated in many dance contests.
Preceded in death by her husband, survivors include her son: Leo (Lorene) of Melbourne Beach; daughter: Mary Helen (Gary) Schiller of Panama City; sisters: Marcia Sease of St. Louis County, Mo., Eleanor Sumowski of Troy, Mo., Marie Krieger of Arlington, W. Va.; six grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
