George R. Allred, Sr., 86, of Palm Bay died Wednesday (12/31/2014) at Life Care Center in Melbourne. A native of Mount Etna, Indiana he came to the Palm Bay area in 1966 from Germany. He spent his career in the military, serving in the U.S. Army. An active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, George had served as an usher. He also worked within the community and was a coach of the Little League and a member of the V.F.W. George’s favorite hobby was woodworking and he spent many hours in his wood working shop.
Survivors include his sons: George (Susan), Jr. of Melbourne, Donald (Valerie) of Springboro, Ohio, Wayne (Kelly) of Orlando; brothers: Rex of Melbourne, Jerry of Huntington, Indiana; sister: Pat Burnau of Huntington, Indiana; five grandchildren: Christopher, Melanie, George III, Kathleen, Anna; and four great-grandchildren: Dayna, Caitlyn, Lauryn, Bayley.
For friends who wish, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Wounded Warriors Project in George’s memory in lieu of flowers.
