Genevieve, affectionally known as Keke, was born on April 20, 1942 in Monnonville, Haiti. She was the eldest of two children of Thelemaque and Helene (nee Landrin) Augustin. She spent all of her formative years in Haiti until she migrated to the United States in 1976 and called Elizabeth, New Jersey her home. She resided there until 2002, at which point she relocated to her final home in Palm Bay, Florida.
Genevieve dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren, love of the Lord, and her service to others. As the matriarch of the family, education and a strong work ethic were primary tenets for her, and she devoted herself to motivating her children to pursue professional degrees and licensing. As a Christian, she enthusiastically rejoiced in the words of the bible. The beautiful sound of her voice often filled the house as she sang hymns in French and English. In her service to others, she worked for over 42 years dedicating herself to the care of the elderly. There was no greater joy than brightening their day with kind words, a floral nightgown, and a pair of clean socks. She relished her role and retired at the tender age of 78! Her giving nature will forever be remembered for her charitable contributions to various family members, churches, multiple organizations and even strangers in need of a helping hand.
Genevieve was predeceased by her parents, Thelemaque and Helene Augustin, her brother, Joseph Rene Augustin, and her nephew Maurice Albert. She is survived by her four children and their spouses, Marie Carmel Emmanuel-McGuffie (Huggins McGuffie) of Palm Bay, Florida, Dominique Emmanuel, of Orange, New Jersey, Claire S. Emmanuel (Lester S. Powder), of Maplewood, New Jersey, and Joseph C. Vignier (Shushana S. Vignier), of Palm Bay, Florida. She is also survived by her 14 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild who were a tremendous source of pride for her, Christina, Maya, Patrick, Noah, Jasmine, Philip, Samory, Michael, Joana, Seth, Jonah, Genevieve, Selah, Grace, and her great-grandson, Kendrick. She will be lovingly remembered by a multitude of relatives including numerous cousins, nieces, nephews as well as friends for years to come. Her legacy will be carried on by all of those that she touched and inspired.
Condolences to the family may be sent to 937 Cherokee Rd, Palm Bay, Florida.
