Gail’s tremendous inner strength became evident when she became a single mom of two young children. Driven by sheer determination to keep her kids’ lives as much the same as possible, Gail began working full-time for a custom braided rug company, then at a paint and wallpaper company. Through these jobs, she discovered her passion and talent for interior decorating. With a keen eye for color and a strong desire to please her customers, she easily worked her way to management. Interior design was not only her professional calling but also consumed a lot of her free time as well.
In 1987, she married the love of her life, Lawrence E. Gallagher. They shared their passions of dancing, music, and family. Later, when they both experienced unexpected layoffs, they combined their talents, took a leap of faith, and opened Woodcrafters Furniture Service. Gail's parents had introduced her to collecting antiques as a child and Larry was a quick study, and together they focused on refurbishing fine antique furnishings. Gail worked side by side with Larry through every step of the refinishing process. They built a reputation for producing high-quality pieces and a business that spanned more than a decade.
When Gail and Larry were ready to slow down and enjoy more quiet time together, they decided to move to Florida, where they could also enjoy warmer weather year-round. There, she decorated the home of her dreams surrounded by the many fine pieces they had refinished together. She enjoyed opening their home to family and friends, and it was considered by many the party spot.
She will be remembered for the deep love that she and Larry shared for one another. As a loving mother, stepmother, and grandmother; and as a priceless friend in her community.
Gail is predeceased by her husband of 32 years, Larry; her parents, Joseph and Hazel Seymour; and her brother, Neil Seymour. She is survived by her son, Anthony Chernasky (Linda); her daughter, Cynthia Jarvis (Greg); her stepsons: Lawrence E. Gallagher (Danielle), James Gallagher (Crystal), Patrick Gallagher (Jennifer), and Christopher Gallagher (Sarah); her stepdaughter, Catherine Loebs (Eric); 19 grandchildren; and sister-in-laws: Elaine Seymour, Lorraine McGuirl, Mary O'Neil, and Colleen Howell.
A memorial service at Fountainhead Funeral Home is scheduled for June 12, 2020 at 10:00 am.
