Elaine Gwendolyn Viola Currie Mckoy, age 76, of Palm Bay, Florida was born in Belize City, Belize Central America on June 15, 1947. She passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at Holmes Regional Hospital in Melbourne, FL surrounded by her family and loved ones.
Elaine attended St. Mary's primary school and Technical College in Belize. Elaine loved music, specifically playing various instruments from the age of 8 under teachings of Christopher Amaya of Belize City. She also played professional badminton in Belize. She was a member of Bob Reneau Creative Dance Team. Elaine attended Northside Corp of the Salvation Army in Belize.
After graduation, she immigrated to New York City, NY on July 21, 1969.
Elaine received her nursing degree in New York and nursing was the love of her life. She was made for that profession as she loved helping others.
Elaine met her husband John in Brooklyn, NY. They were married for 51 years.
Her membership continued in the Salvation Army Bedford Temple Corp in Brooklyn, NY at Bedford Temple Corp. Elaine played in the band, was a band instructor, taught Sunday School, and Junior Soldiers. In 2006, Elaine retired and moved to Florida with John. Elaine continued her membership with the Salvation Army at Melbourne Corp. She played in the band briefly when her health permitted it.
Elaine is predeceased by her husband John, Mother and Father, Edith and David, three brothers, David, Lincoln and recently Rudolph, one sister Athalie, three nephews Eyre, David, and Martin, and one niece Claudine. She is left to cherish her memory daughter Michelle (Barbara), Son John, Jr. (Sarah), three grandchildren, Melania, Meilene, and Destiny. She is also survived by her sisters, Merlene (Ernest), Joan (Lincoln), Annette (Emerson), and identical twin Alice (Joseph-predeceased in death). Elaine has two adopted children Rhonda and Eric, 4 adopted grandchildren, Jackie, Pameline, Katrina, and Brooke, 7 great-grandchildren, Alaysia, Trinity, Ja'Kari, Janice, Noah, Tahj, and Kaiden. Elaine also has a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins, family and friends left to mourn her death.
A visitation for Elaine will be held Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 12:00 PM at Fountainhead Funeral Home, 7359 Babcock Street SE, Palm Bay, FL 32909, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM.
