Edward Christopher Collazo, 91, entered fully into the presence of the Lord on August 29, 2022. Edward was a beloved father and grandfather, a faithful man who loved the Lord, his family, church and community. He was the widower of Sylvia Clark in whom he shared 30 years of marriage. Before that marriage at the age of 26 he was married to Phyllis Arena, in which they had four children together.
Born in Brooklyn New York, he was the son of Felix and Eva Collazo. He had the privilege of attending Boys High in Brooklyn, New York. Where he proudly earned the name “Hurricane" on the football field due to his speed. After high school he enlisted in the Marines during the Korean War. He worked for the United States Post Office in Lake Ronkonkoma, New York where he proudly walked 10 miles a day.
He was full of life and enjoyed being on stage. But his true joy was from the Lord Jesus Christ. Edward’s Christian faith was an essential part of his life. He spent a great deal of time at church volunteering in the Food Pantry, setting up bagels on Sunday morning, and teaching others how to evangelize. He never met a person that he would not ask if they had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ? “It is not about religion but relationship.” He overcame a lot of heartache and challenges in his life and always gave the Lord Jesus Christ the Praise and honor for bringing him through them.
His sons Frank and Paul Collazo survive him, along with his daughters Maria Anderson and Phyllis Collazo. He is eagerly waiting to reunite in heaven with his grand children, Frank, Paul, Zachary, Christina and Nicole and his great grand daughter Zila. His first grandson Donny Jr., predeceased him, so together they are enjoying heavens wonders. All Praise and Glory to our Lord Jesus Christ.
The Celebration of Edward Collazo, a faithful servant, will be held at Calvary Chapel of Melbourne on Thursday, September 29th at 11:00 am. The family is asking that donations be made to, Samaritans Purse Franklin Graham’s ministry or Calvary Chapel of Melbourne. Edward was always concerned for the less fortunate and those who have no peace with God through Jesus Christ. May the Lord Bless You all.
