Deborah Jo Walker, age 71, died on July 3 in Melbourne, Fl. Although she spent her last four years in Florida, she was born in Houston, Tx. to Willard Windoll Walker, Jr. and Betty Ruth Walker, and declared she would live and die a Texan.
She graduated from Deer Park High School in 1968. She was employed at the University of Texas Medical Center and later with Texwood Shows. Whether at work or out and about, she loved to smile, and she made others smile.
She was generous, always kind, and very compassionate. She cared deeply for all creatures, great and small, and would wait in the evening for her precious sandhill crane family to return home from their daily journeys.
She loved her family, and she would quickly show pictures of her nieces and their "babies" whenever anyone would give her an opportunity. She attended countless kids' events and celebrated every accomplishment they made with glee. She was a blessing!
She wore crazy hats, crazy hair and drove crazy fast on her super-powered wheelchair. So, if you live near 192, you will probably miss that fast-moving, disabled lady, wearing a sock monkey hat and donning an "I am Blessed" shirt, speeding to Target, or her favorite restaurant on HWY 192.
She is survived by her sisters, Wanda Lee Hattaway and Janet Traylor (Tony), and her nieces, Lori Van Sciver (Gary), Carrie Cronkhite (Jonathan), and Jacquelyn Gonzalez (Chris). She was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Willard Windoll Walker, III.
The graveside service for Deborah, along with her brother Bill, will be held at 10 AM on Friday, September 10, at Grand View Memorial Park in Pasadena, Texas. Additional visitation will follow at the home of his sister Janet Traylor at 12PM. Address listed below.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Homesdevoted.com, or to the SPCA or a favorite local animal shelter. All cards or acknowledgments can be sent to her sister, Janet Traylor, 209 Rollingwood Cr. Baytown, Tx. 77520
