David was born in Independence, VA. He met his wife, Sandy, in Denver, CO and they were married in Sandy’s home of Eau Claire, WI 52 years ago. The couple came to Brevard County in 1969 where they lived in Palm Bay for the last 43 years.
David served honorably in the United States Air Force from 1949 to 1969, retiring as a Technical Sargent. David served overseas in the Philippine Islands, as well as throughout Europe, and in Minot, ND. Following his military duty, he worked for Harris Corporation in Palm Bay for many years. After leaving Harris, he enjoyed a third career as an independent owner/operator of a trucking business.
David was a dedicated youth mentor. He spent many years volunteering as a softball coach, Little League umpire, and Scout Master. He served as president of the Palm Bay Board of Recreation and protected his community as a volunteer police officer. He was an active member of Calvary Chapel Melbourne which was an important part of his life.
He is survived by his wife Sandy and his four children: Scott Boyer (Susan) of Coral Springs, FL, Steven Boyer (Heidi) of HoneyBrook, PA, Mark Boyer (Christy) of Palm Bay, FL, and Kelli Boyer Chehaitli (Zack) of Daytona Beach, FL. David also has nine grandchildren: Nicholas; Josiah, JanEllyn, Daniel, and Micah; Alexis and Brody; and GiGi and Rania.
Anyone planning expressions of sympathy is asked to consider St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in lieu of flowers.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Calvary Chapel Melbourne at noon on Wednesday January 25th.
