Audrey L. Wright

July 20, 1945- September 13, 2019

Audrey Lena Wright passed peacefully into eternity on Friday, September 13, 2019, in Rockledge, Florida at 74 years of age from her battle with Alzheimer’s.

Audrey Lena was born on July 20th, 1945 in Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey. She was born to Harold Edward Perkins, Sr. and Lena Hall Perkins (both predeceased). Audrey was “Lucky Child #7”, as she always referred to herself, since she was the 7th child of 12 siblings. Of her 12 siblings, she is survived by nine as follows, Martha Anderson (predeceased by husband Warren Anderson), Joan Rose (predeceased by husband Rev. Jessie Rose), Rev. Robert Perkins (married to Judy Perkins), Ann Cagle Garcia (Married to Luis Garcia), Rose Nixon (predeceased by husband Kenneth Nixon), Diane Perkins, James Arnold “Arnie” Perkins, Sherry Perkins Cox (married to Henderson “Curtis” Cox, Jr.) and Timothy Perkins. She is preceded by Harold Perkins, Jr. and Kenneth Perkins, Sr. (surviving spouse Beverly Perkins).

Audrey spent most of her early years in Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey, where she attended and graduated from Middletown Township High School in 1965. She participated in track and cheerleading and was always athletic. She primarily worked in the healthcare industry taking care of elders, which was her calling. She loved caring and taking care of people and children, which is evident throughout her life.

Audrey met her beloved and cherished partner Warren W. Wright, Sr. in late 1967. She later married her soulmate, Warren on November 23, 1968. The two have shared a beautiful life of over 50 years of marriage. Warren is a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served over 23 years. Audrey was by his side during this entire journey, before retiring in Palm Bay, Florida. As such, Warren and Audrey were avid travelers. They completed two tours in Europe and continued to journey and travel even after retirement. Warren and Audrey were inseparable and true-life partners. Warren was at her side at the time of her passing. Warren and Audrey have two children, Kimberly Wright Williams (Married to Tracy G. Williams, Sr.) and Warren W. Wright, Jr. (Married to Cheri Wright). They also have four grandchildren, Tahnia Williams, Tyron Williams, Jordyn Wright and Jazmine Wright. Audrey was an amazing Nana and her influence, love, personality and guidance is very visible in all four of her grandchildren. Audrey was also fortunate to be the Step-Nana to Tracy G. Williams, Jr., Tshamiah Williams (step-children of Kimberly) and Alyssa DeFusco (step-child of Warren).

In addition to traveling, Audrey enjoyed cooking and baking (mostly her mother Lena’s recipes from scratch), sewing and gardening. Her most favorite and treasured pastime was dancing and listing to music. Her favorites ranged from old school, Motown, Doo Wop, Whitney Houston to Gospel. In fact, her family will remember her best for being the life of the party with her singing, dancing and practical jokes.

In addition to the above, Audrey is further preceded by a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, lifelong friends and “adopted” children that called her mom- you know who you are.
