Antonio Aponte, 81, of Melbourne died at his home Monday (6/16/2014) with his family gathered around him. A native of Cayey, Puerto Rico, he came to the Melbourne area 26 years ago from Puerto Rico. Antonio had been a supervisor in a chemical plant prior to his retirement. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and the Senior Center. He also volunteered at Holmes Regional Hospital.
Survivors include his wife of 61 ½ years: Rosa; two sons: Anthony of Palm Bay, Raymond of Cayey, Puerto Rico; brothers: Joe of New York, George of Puerto Rico; sisters: Nancy Cassidy of Palm Bay, Loilin Rodriguez of Puerto Rico; five grandchildren: Barbara, Gabriel, Daniel, Miguel, Carol Nannette;and two great-grandchildren.
