Ursula, known as Tootsie to her close friends and Nana by her family, was born July 12, 1933, to Andrew and Angela Favazza in Pittsburg, CA who immigrated to the United States from Sicily.
In grade school, she moved to Monterey and grew up on Larkin Street. After graduating from Monterey High School in 1951, she attended MPC. She married Lorenz Bohn on New Year's Eve, 1960, and together they raised a loving family. They cultivated strong values that continue to guide their children and loved ones in life. Lorenz and Ursula owned Bohn Heating and Sheet Metal from 1963-1988 and then Pacific Grove Supply Company.
As a child, Ursula was a 4-H member, an athlete, and social butterfly. She was an active community member with service to The League of Women Voters, Children’s Home Society, Multiple Sclerosis Society, and Santa Catalina Service League. She attended San Carlos Cathedral. As a young adult, she enjoyed playing tennis, running, dancing, and working out with Jack LaLanne.
Once Multiple Sclerosis made those activities no longer possible, she overcame her fear of water and learned to swim at the Josephine Kernes pool. She continued to love the water for the rest of her life. She advocated for health of the mind, body, and spirit and kept an open mind to non-Western healing. She was inspirational by encouraging learning, individual passions, education, travel, and spirituality
She treasured Sunday Mass and family dinners. She loved participating in family outings and attending athletic events, music recitals, academic graduations, art shows, and Sacraments. Her presence always made family time precious.
She thrived while helping others and simply being a kind woman. Her perpetual joy, happiness, and her infectious smile enriched everyone.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Angela, and Andrew Favazza, first husband Flay Rogers (1958), second husband Lorenz Bohn (2001), sisters Sarah Cavaliere, Carmen Donegan, and MaryAnn Davidson, and brother Rizzario. She leaves behind her children Flayanna Rogers, Andrea Bohn (John Eisinger) Larry Bohn (Teresa), and stepson Paul Bohn (Beth). Grandchildren Tyler, Caleb, Ali, Katie, Ursula, Alexandra, Jamie, Ashlee, Lindsay, Heidi, and 9 great-grandchildren.
The family requests donations are made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in lieu of flowers. There will be a Memorial Mass at San Carlos Cathedral at 10:00 am Friday, February 17, 2023 . The family honors Jerry Sardoma, Ursula’s loving care companion, and his family for assisting and enhancing her life.
