He was born to parents Frank and Eileen Sutor on 8 Nov 1952 in Fort Clayton in Panama. Born to a military family, he traveled the world with his ten brothers and sisters.
Stephen joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1973 and was stationed in Kaneohe Marine Base in Hawaii. He started his 40-year career with the federal government in 1979 and retired in 2019.
Stephen is survived by nine brothers and sisters: Mary Ann Sutor, of TX; Christopher Sutor, of TX; David Sutor, of NM; Thomas Sutor, of Seaside; Joseph Sutor, of Pacific Grove; Teresa Pate, of OR; Michael Sutor, of OK; Barbara Manabe, of Del Rey Oaks; and Laura Lowell, of Nevada City. He is also survived by 37 nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. Stephen was predeceased by his mother, Eileen Edna Sutor, earlier this year, his father in 1980 and brother John Frances Sutor in 1987.
Stephen was a devoted son and spent many years taking care of his mother and her properties. He enjoyed being outside, taking care of his garden and tending to his bees. He was also a very loyal and reliable friend to many, with a great sense of humor.
A committal service with military honors will be held on 29 May 2020 at 10:30am at El Carmelo Cemetery at the corner of Asilomar Blvd and Lighthouse Ave in Pacific Grove. Due to the current shelter in place order, friends and family who wish to attend this service, may drive to the cemetery and stay in their cars.
