Linda Arlene Jacobs, 62, passed away on Monday, January 21, 2013. The only child of Roy and Audrey Jacobs, Linda was born at Fort Dix, New Jersey, on February 22, 1950. Her father, a highly decorated veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict, moved his family to Pacific Grove in 1954.
Linda attended Pacific Grove High School and MPC before going on to U. C. Davis for her BA in English Literature and U. C. Berkeley for her graduate degree in Library Science. Linda’s intellectual prowess was evidenced by her 4.0 GPA in college. As her college friend and roommate put it, “Linda wouldn’t recognize a B if she saw one”.
Among the many extraordinary qualities Linda exhibited were her giant intellect, dry wit, photographic memory, eclectic reading and music interests, accomplished knitting skills, gourmet cooking and master of the spoken word.
Linda went to work for what was to become the present-day Alpha Stationers in 1974. As store manager and buyer, she cultivated many long-term friendships and acquaintances among her beloved customers. Alpha Stationers was the focus of her life, and she flourished there.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents. Linda would want to acknowledge the love and caring of her many friends, especially in the last months of her life: Cynthia Siebe, Richard Flaig, Barbara and Ashley Streetman, Peggy Schmidt, Marilyn Brown, Deborah Taylor, Judy Fede, Laurel and Teresa Costen, Linda Beaudin, Leslie Lathrup, Connie Pearlstein, Dr. John Hausdorff, Dr. Karen Tierney, Dr. Brad Tamler, Lilly Wolfgramm, Hospice of the Central Coast, and her beloved Sierra Sisterhood buddies, Barbara Simmons, Ann Stephenson and Beverly Allen.
The world will be a lesser place without Linda.
There will be no service at Linda’s request.
