Joy Jean Chapman

Carmel ~ Joy Jean Chapman, age 57, was born on November 1, 1955 in Sewickley, Pennsylvania to Arlene Delores Conrad Magnuson and Einar Joseph Magnuson. She passed away November 29, 2012.

Following graduation from Moon High School, Joy worked as an administrative assistant at Coastal Tank Lines in Coraopolis, PA. She was married to Wayne S. Chapman on February 14, 1981 at the Coraopolis Assembly of God Church. Joy and Wayne lived in Ohio where she worked for GRL Engineers –Pile Dynamics in Cleveland.

Since moving to Carmel, California in 1999, Joy worked in administrative positions at Carmel Valley Ranch, the Carmel Unified School District, and the Church of the Wayfarer. Joy loved reading, music, travelling extensively with her family, and doing craft projects with her friends. She and her family attended the Carmel Presbyterian Church.

Joy is survived by her husband of thirty-one years, Wayne; her daughter, Vanessa Ann Chapman of Carmel, CA, a student at California State University, Stanislaus; her father, Einar J. Magnuson of Debary, FL; her sisters, Karen (Ron) Edwards of Debary, FL, Nancy (John) Peck of Dearborn, MI and Shari (Tim) McLaughlin of Matthews, NC; four nieces, four nephews, four grandnieces and one grandnephew. Joy was preceded in death by her mother, Arlene Magnuson.

Joy’s family would like to express gratitude to Dr. Thomas Bradley and the nursing and physical therapy staff at Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula, Terrace West, for their excellent care and compassion.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 pm this Saturday, December 8, 2012 at the Carmel Presbyterian Church located on the corner of Junipero and Ocean Avenue, Carmel-by-the-Sea.
