John D. Money, a fifty-year resident of the Monterey Peninsula, passed away after an extended illness. A graduate of Pacific Grove High School, he was a talented chef who worked at many well-known local restaurants for over thirty-eight years.
John loved to hunt and fish and taught these skills to his son. He enjoyed spending time with his family and is remembered as a wonderful husband and father.
John is survived by his wife of thirty-one years, Providence (Prudie); his children, Jessica Carpenter of Sonora, J.D. (Nicole) of Monterey and Tina of Seaside; his siblings, Charles, of Rome, Georgia and Marilyn (Ray) Nonella of Marina; his mother-in-law, Frances Verwold, and sister-in-law, Angela (Larry) Escobar; his grandchildren, Johnny, Hannah, Mackenzie and Vincent, Grace, Charles and Olivia and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Money and Linda Russo and his daughter Tina’s fiancé, Hugo Ricalde.
Visitation will take place at The Paul Mortuary Chapel this Thursday, September 19 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM. Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Angela Merici Church in Pacific Grove on Friday, September 20 at 11:00 followed by entombment at San Carlos Cemetery.
