Born in Brighton, Sussex, England, John was fully educated in England, joined the Royal Marines (1945 – 1949) and was appointed to The Gordon Highlanders with a rank of Captain.
John held many positions in the hospitality industry with the Jackson Lake Lodge in Grand Teton National Park and the Arizona Biltmore, Phoenix, Arizona among his favorites.
His passions were golf, horses, fly-fishing, and yes, needlepoint, all of which brought him tremendous pleasure. But his true passion was Nancy, his loving wife of 51 years. John was a member of the Cypress Point Golf Club in Pebble Beach since 1972 and was president from 1991 through 1997. He was also president of the United States Pony Club.
He and wife Nancy opened up the J Bar L Dude Ranch in Jackson Hole, Wyoming and later owned the Lobos Lodge in Carmel, California.
Survived by loving wife Nancy; sons Scott Love and Pete (Jeanne) Horner; nieces Jane Tasse, Ann Thompson Hill, Sara Gay, Mary Ann Macalpine, Virginia Brown, Elisabeth Richardson and Franchesca Wheller and nephew Simon Love.
Per John’s wishes there will be no service but the family would appreciate any donations to the charity of your choice.
