John Howard Jones

John Howard “Jay” Jones passed away on Tuesday, September 27th. Jay is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Jane Durant Jones, daughters Stephanie (Jason) Nowlin and Stacy (Rob) Hoffman, and grandchildren Sydney and Reece Hoffman. Born in 1937 in Illinois, Jay served honorably in the United States Marine Corps between 1959 and 1965 before flying as a commercial airline pilot for Pan American World Airways and later Delta Airlines. A lifelong pilot and sailor, Jay will be remembered for his incredible wit and sense of humor, regardless of whether it was always appropriate.

At the request of the deceased, no funeral or memorial service will be held.

The surviving family is incredibly grateful to the Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula and particularly the Emergency Department for their remarkable empathy and support during this difficult time and requests those who wish to express sympathy consider making a donation in Jay’s name to the Emergency Department at CHOMP, PO Box HH, Monterey, CA, 93942.
