Jacqueline Lee Rockwell, 89, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 15, 2021. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean; son, Bruce; and grandson, Jason. She is survived by her sons Dennis, Daniel (Boomer) and Michael; daughter Dena, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchild.
Born in Turlock on May 17th, 1931, Jackie spent her early life on her grandfather's farm until her father's passing when she was just 12. She then relocated to the Monterey Peninsula to care for her younger siblings. Shortly thereafter, she met her future husband & love of her life, marrying Dean Charles Rockwell in 1947. They wasted no time in starting a family. She was a stay-at-home-mom, raising 4 boys & a girl, while supporting a burgeoning property empire spanning the Monterey peninsula. In her later years she experienced a professional renaissance; as her husband took a step back on the business, she picked up the mantle and continued to manage the Rockwell holdings until the very end.
Jackie was a force of nature. She was involved in many women's groups throughout her years, including bunco and bowling leagues, and was an avid gardener. She contributed to numerous charitable organizations on the local and national levels. But above all, she loved holding court with family and friends. No one could outlast her in a conversation, and if she wasn't entertaining a group in-person, she could be found glued to an epic multi-hour phone call. Even though the business was still done by hand, her ability to adapt to emojis and smartphones was unparalleled.
The family would like to offer a sincere thanks to all caregivers who were able to provide support and comfort in her twilight years, with a special thank you to Leslie, who made her feel special every day. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in her name to the charity of your choosing.
