Gianfranco Merolle

Gianfranco Merolle, age 73, passed away peacefully on December 27th, 2016 at his home in the loving care of his wife, after a long battle with cancer.

He was born on January 19th, 1943 in Florence, Italy, where he grew up as the single son of Teodorico and Irma Merolle. He completed the Classical Lyceum and later studied Physics at the University of Florence.

There, he met his wife Annie Martens, a visiting student from California in 1968. The couple married in 1975 and had their only son Mauro in 1977.

In 1992, Gianfranco and his family relocated to California where he started to work in the food industry before opening his own business in 1994 from which he retired in 2012.

Since then Gianfranco and his beloved companion of long over 40 years, Annie, lived a quaint life at their home in Monterey.

Gianfranco, adored husband and beloved father and grand-father is survived by his wife Annie, son Mauro, daughter-in-law Nina and their children Elio and Neri.
