The Lord knew she was tired, prepared her travel and brought her home peacefully during her sleep on a Tuesday morning. Born Ellen Patricia Harbord in Busselton, Australia to dairy farmers, she often said gratefully, “I don’t have any more cows to milk.
Our mother joined the Australian Army during World War II as an ambulance driver. She continued to drive like one through her long life. At the end of the war, Ellen came to America on a War Bride ship. She married Harold Erickson and they enjoyed a wonderful fifty-year marriage until his passing in 1997.
Fifteen years ago, Ellen met the other love of her life, John Goings of Pacific Grove, at a widowed persons meeting. They completed each other’s life and made many happy memories of travel adventures, dance and love.
Ellen had a successful and enjoyable forty-year career as a beautician in Pacific Grove. She enjoyed the following organizations: The Carmel Foundation; the Elks Lodge; the Moose Lodge, the Thunderbirds, Daughters of the British Empire and the Widowed Persons Association.
Ellen leaves behind her sons, James (Judy Kay) Erickson and David Erickson and her daughter, Vicki (Bill) Neidinger, five grandchildren, sixteen grandchildren and her beloved partner, John.
