Jean McCune Merrill, age 88, passed from this life on October 31, 2016. She had suffered bravely and uncomplaining with pulmonary fibrosis for several years. She joined her husband, Keith, who had died 29 days before. They were married and sealed 68 years ago in the Salt Lake Temple for time and eternity. Jean was born in Los Angeles, CA to her parents Clarence and Elsie Noble McCune, but was raised and attended school in Salt Lake City, UT. She was the fourth of five children. Jean is survived by her 5 children, Alyson Childs (Richard), Scott (Leslie), Bryan, Craig (Lisa), and Doug (Monrudee), 12 grandchildren and 19 great grands. She is also survived by her brother, Dr. Craig McCune of Bellingham, WA and numerous nieces and nephews. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Jean’s life was a shining example of all that is good. She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. Her home was always inviting and comfortable. She went about quietly serving her family and others with compassion and kindness. Jean will be missed by all who knew her and will forever be our angel mother.
The family would like to thank Dr. Richard King and Heartland Hospice for their care. A memorial service to celebrate Jean’s life will be held on Saturday November 26, 2016 at 11AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints located at 1 Forest Knoll Rd. Monterey, CA 93940.
