Donna slipped away quietly in her sleep on December 29, 2013. Born Donna Jeanne Greenley to a military family, she traveled extensively throughout her youth. She met her future husband and Naval Officer (Harold Monroe Richardson, known to friends and family as "Duff") on a ship to China when they were just sixteen. Both belonging to military families, they were taken in different directions for the next six years, but kept in touch and married after graduating from college to continue their travels side-by-side. She and Duff became enamored with the Monterey Peninsula while attending the Defense Language Institute to learn Turkish, returned ten years later to retire and lived out their final years quietly and contently in Pacific Grove. Both passed away in 2013, within months of each other, and are missed by their two daughters, Sheri Pardy and Laurie Richardson. Their final wish was for their ashes to be scattered at sea together, which will be carried out privately by family this spring.
