Donald Lyons Marlette was born December 1, 1925, to George Henry and Mary 'Mame" Marlette in Stockton, California. After Victory School and Stockton High School, Don attended College of the Pacific until enlisting in the Navy in 1942. Don served in the North Pacific, patrolling the Aleutian Islands. He was privileged to witness the Victory Ceremony in Tokyo Bay September 2, 1945.
Upon his return to Stockton, Don went to work at his father's insurance brokerage, with local construction companies for clients. His first desk was the top of a filing cabinet, but he eventually grew the company to a very successful nation-wide enterprise with offices in both Stockton and Los Angeles, covering automobile dealers.
Don married Patty Lou (nee) Peters, with whom he had three children who survive him: Patrick (Mary), David (Vicki) and Maggie (Rob) Cox. He is also survived by David's daughters, Sarah and Kate, and Maggie and Rob's daughters, Cameron and Kelsey. And he is survived by his daughter Cynthia (Tom) Armstrong and their son, Henry. He is predeceased by his sister Alice Higby.
While living in Los Angeles, Don met Suzanne (nee DePlautt), with whom he eventually settled in the paradise of Carmel Valley with their "Wonderful little dog," Daisy.
Don was as strong as a bull to the very end, despite the bumps and dents one accumulates at 91-years old. There were many chapters in his life, and he charmed everyone he met along the way. His irreverent sense of humor has been passed along to his children, who are grateful that he was their dad.
