Alan Joseph Murphy

Alan is survived by Susan, his wife of 50 years; son, Kevin (Jennifer); son, Patrick (Deanna); and grandson, Joseph. He is also survived by sister, Lillian Ochs, and remained close to his many nieces, nephews and bothers-in-law.

Born in San Francisco, Alan moved to Moss Beach, California in 1970 where he was an active leader in the community and could regularly be seen presiding over neighborhood improvement association fundraisers, Boy Scout meetings or on stage as one of the first actors with the Coastal Repertory Theater.

He retired to Carmel in 1999 where he continued stay involved in the community. Alan was active in CASA and volunteered as a child advocate for many years. He was also a board member of the Carmel Heritage Society. He was a huge believer in civic duty, and was very proud of the year he spent on the Monterey County Grand Jury.
