Evelyn was born in Texas on January 17, 1930, and raised in Arkansas. She had a master's degree in nursing and worked as a registered nurse in Birmingham for many years, specializing in geriatrics. After retirement, she moved to Ozark to be closer to family. Well-travelled, she enjoyed taking trips with family and friends. She loved gardening and was said to have not only a green thumb, but a green hand!
Evelyn was beloved by her family; she was known as "Precious" to her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Holmes. She is survived by two children: Stephanie German (Jerry) of Ozark and Trey Hood (Beverly) of Hobbs, New Mexico; four grandchildren: Brianna Parker (Michael) of Athens, Alabama, Brandon German (Kellyann) of Birmingham, Nicholas Hood of Auburn, and Caitlin Hood of Midland City; one great-granddaughter, Madeline Parker; and a special family member, Marygrace Hood of Ozark.
Graveside service was held October 11, 2012 at 10 a.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery in Ozark. Rev. Harry Circle, Associate Pastor of Ridgecrest Baptist Church, officiated. Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home directed.
