Eva McIntosh Newsome

Funeral services will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, May 5, 2012, at Bethel Assembly of God in Ariton with Rev. Jeff Downing officiating. Burial will follow at Friendship Baptist Church in Geneva with Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark directing.

Visitation will be Friday, May 4, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

Eva Newsome was born on Dec. 24, 1912 in Coffee County to the late John and Frances McIntosh. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Geneva. After moving to Ariton in 1989, she attended Bethel Assembly of God. She liked working in flowers and in the garden.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Wirt Newsome on April 15, 1989. Also, three daughters; Frankie Jenkins, Edith Gales & Winona Allen, two Grandsons; Lindon Jenkins & Darrell Sherrer, three brothers and six sisters.

She is survived by three daughters; Miriam Sherrer, Margie Whittington and Ann Danner (Ronnie) and one son; Joe Newsome (Dee); Grandchildren, Rhonda Daniels (David), James Whittington, Sandy McDaniel (Tim), Joe Allen Newsome (Jennifer), Jennifer Blackmon (Norman), Chad Newsome (Kim), John Jenkins (Earnestine), Fay Jenkins, Ann Dora Cook, Glenda Cornett, Archie Gales, Rosena Campbell, Judy Fowler, Tim Gales, Billy, Mike and Larry Allen, Barbara Flanagan, 29 great-grandchildren, 21 great-great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Gentiva Hospice for their dedication and care shown to the entire family as well as Mrs. Newsome.
