Our Hearts are heavy. Our Neighbor of 35 years has passed over to another place. Such Happy Memories of watching the Kids, Grandkids and Great Grandkids pass through that house. Gatherings, conversations over the fence, BBQ and garden exchanges! Fist Bumps to you MR. Ross, Safe Travels.

Although I never met Mr Ross, I am well acquainted with Maria as friend and coworker. I think of Mr Ross as a hero just knowing the bare facts of his life. I send my regards to Mrs Ross as well as the sisters, and of course, to Maria, another hero.

James (older cousins called him Jake) was a beloved pillar of the Ross family. It was such a joy when two long-separated branches of the family found each other again!  We would drive from San Francisco to Oxnard for visits. Cousin Jake and Juanita always welcomed us into their home with open arms.  
I remember cousin Jake's wonderful barbecue, and hanging around the kitchen watching him making his famous biscuits.  He shared amazing stories about his life,  with his snappy sense of humor,  and always had a mischievous sparkle in his eyes.Jake and Juanita were faithful fixtures at the family reunions. He loved to whip anyone who sat down at his table for dominoes and bid whist! 

Most of all I remember how much Jake loved his family,  especially his beloved "Kiddo", Juanita. Their love,  patience and devotion to one another set the standard for me as a young woman. That same love flows through their children and grands now. 

James "Jake" Ross was one of a kind. His precious legacy lives on in all the hearts of the people he touched during his well-lived life. I'm grateful for being blessed to be a part of his legacy. I'm praying for the Ross family,  and looking forward to when we can join together to celebrate his life.  Rashawn
